Immigration Medicals
Harley Street Medical provides immigration medical examinations for Immigration New Zealand. Dr Yen Chen is an approved panel physician, and our team will help arrange the appointments and medical tests required for your visa application.
Booking an Immigration Medical
Please complete our general contact form to request an immigration medical.
As this form is used for all general enquiries, please write “Immigration medical request” in your message and include:
- Your full name exactly as it appears on your passport
- Your address
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Your date of birth
- The type of visa you are applying for
- Any medical requirements you have been given, such as a blood test, chest X-ray or full medical examination
It is the applicant’s responsibility to confirm which visa they are applying for and what medical examinations or tests Immigration New Zealand requires.
Once we receive your form, our team will contact you to arrange the appropriate appointments. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
An immigration medical involves two appointments at Harley Street Medical:

- A 15-minute appointment to create and set up your Immigration New Zealand medical file.
- A medical examination with an approved panel physician.

This appointment takes approximately 15 minutes. Payment is required at this appointment. - Medical examination
You will be examined by an approved panel physician. - Chest X-ray
Dr Chen will provide the referral form if an X-ray is required. - Blood tests
Dr Chen will provide the laboratory form if blood tests are required.
Costs
The cost at Harley Street Medical depends on the requirements of your application and ranges from $90 to $270. Payment is required at your file set-up appointment. Fees are subject to change.
Chest X-rays and blood tests have separate charges, which are paid directly to the relevant provider.
Before Your Appointments
- Passport: You must bring your passport to both Harley Street Medical appointments.
- Interpreter: If you are unable to communicate confidently in English, you must arrange an independent interpreter. Family members cannot act as interpreters. You can book one through Interpreting New Zealand or the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters.
- Undressing: Some examinations may require you to undress. The doctor will explain what is required. You are welcome to bring a chaperone.
- Changing an appointment: Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to change or cancel an appointment. You may be charged if insufficient notice is given. Payments are not refundable if you do not attend.
Chest X-rays
Chest X-rays are completed at Pacific Radiology. Dr Chen will provide your referral form.
You will need to book directly with Pacific Radiology by calling 03 548 2745. Their fee is payable separately.
Blood Tests
Blood tests are completed at Awanui Labs. Once Dr Chen has provided your laboratory form, you must book an appointment directly with Awanui Labs.
