IMMUNISE EARLY AGAINST FLU AND COVID

From the 3rd of April 2025 we will be offering funded and non-funded flu vaccines. Protect yourself for winter by booking an appointment TODAY!

The flu vaccine is your best protection against the Influenza Virus. For many patients the flu vaccine will be fully funded (making it free to them). People eligible for a fully funded vaccine this year include

– 65+ years old

– pregnant

– people with diabetes

– people with serious mental health conditions

– children under 4 who have been hospitalised for respiratory illness

– people under 65 years with other chronic health conditions

If you are unsure if you meet the criteria for a fully funded vaccine it is advised you speak with your nurse or GP to find out. Patients who do not meet the free vaccine criteria are encouraged to get flu vaccine at a cost of $38.

We also have the latest Covid vaccine in stock. This was released in January. If you have not had a covid infection or vaccine in the last 6 months we encourage you to get a covid immunisation at the same time. These are fully funded (free) to all patients ages 12+. Most people are able to get both a flu and covid vaccine at the same time. Please let reception know when booking if you want vaccinations for both flu and covid.

Bookings are also available on Manage My Health, our online portal.

OTHER FUNDED VACCINES

Vaccines are proven to be effective in preventing the spread of many infectious diseases. Currently there is an increase in reported cases of pertussis (whooping cough) across the region. Many patients may be eligible for a funded vaccine to protect themselves (and hence others) against whooping cough. Chat to a nurse today to check you are immunised.

Likewise, there is a funded vaccine to protect against shingles. This is a two dose therapy, fully funded for patients in their 65th year of life. If you or someone you know has recently turned 65, book an appointment in the nurse clinic. Non-funded vaccines are available at a cost to the patient.

HARLEY STREET NURSES

We have a wonderful nursing team here at Harley Street. Each team member has a range of strengths and clinical interests.

Our nurses are excellent at giving medical advice if you are unwell. They can listen to your symptoms and help make a plan for treatment. For some illnesses (like Urinary Tract Infections) they can even administer medications to help you feel better. Please call and ask to speak with a nurse if you have concerns, especially if you cannot find an appointment with a doctor on Manage My Health. Our nurses are much better than Dr Google that’s for sure!

Did you know that you are able to book an appointment with the nurse for education on a variety of health topics too? If you are wanting education or upskilling in areas such as diabetes, women’s health (including pregnancy and menopause), eczema care, weight loss, managing pain or advanced care plans we would love to book you an appointment in the Nurse Clinic.

PATIENT SURVEY RESULTS

Thank you to all our patients who provided essential feedback to our practice for our in-house Patient Survey. We appreciate the time and effort that went into your responses. Our team of Director’s and Practice Management have listened to your comments and actioned the necessary changes to better our patients experience.

One of the key points taken from the survey is our patient’s appreciation for appointment availability and appropriate waiting times. Harley Street Medical respects the time our patient’s take from their busy lives to visit our team, and with the addition of a new GP, Dr Ella Barclay, and the growing role of our Nurse Prescriber, Katy Savage, we hope to better our results on this one next time.

As always your feedback is welcome and accepted. We have a patient feedback box in our waiting room, or please have a chat to one of the team members.

BRIDGE STREET ROADWORKS

Please be aware there are ongoing road works on Bridge Street from 17 March (for several weeks) which may affect access into Harley Street (detours will be in place) and the availability of carparking on the street. Please allow extra time for travel to the practice.
